Did you know that goldfish were originally…silver? During the Tang dynasty, it was common to own carp in pools and gardens. The typical carp was silver, with the occasional color mutation resulting in red, yellow, or gold. Centuries of selective breeding followed, and the golden fish which emerged became known as a symbol of luck. Since then it's become a household pet and universal good luck charm.
