As the story goes, Eric Bloodaxe was one of Harold Fairhair’s sons, making him a viable candidate to become Viking King of Norway. The ONLY candidate, after he killed two of his brothers to take the throne. We don’t know if that’s how he got his bloody reputation, or if it was all the raiding he did after he was dethroned and ejected from Norway. Either way, he is a Legendary Warrior and his Bloodaxe is gilded in gold on this impressive coin.
